Cecilia Martini

Cecilia Martini (1973), took at the University of Padua her degree in Philosophy and the PhD in History of Medieval Arabic Philosophy. She continued her researches at the Seminar für Orientalistik of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum. In the years 2004-2008 she has taught Medieval Arabic Philosophy at the University of Padua and from the 2010 Arabic Language and Literature. She is member of the editorial staff of «Medioevo. Rivista di storia della filosofia medievale», and member of the scientific board of the Interdepartmental Centre for the Medieval Philosophy researches “C. Giacon” of the University of Padua and of the Research Center GRAL - Greco Arabo Latino. Incontro di culture (Universities of Padova and Pisa, Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes, Paris, Université Saint-Joseph, Beyrut).
The guide lines of Martini’s research are the Arabic tradition of Aristotle’s Metaphysics and the Arabic Peripatetic Philosophy, in particular Abū Naṣr al-Fārābī e ‘Abd al-Laṭīf al-Baġdādī.
